Re: Power/Pedestal Tester (211905)

Post by Yahoo_Upload » 09 Aug 2015 06:55

Karl,
Not really but only if you want to. Another customer had attempted to plug
into a 50 amp pedestal which when tested the Red Indicator lamp would not
light up. He finally ended up discovering that is was wired as a "Fake 50
amp" pedestal. The Red indicator lamp would not light up and he thought it
was a blown lamp on his tester even though the campground "electrician"
insisted that the pedestal was wired correctly. Once he moved to a
completely different campground and tested the pedestal there, the Red
indicator lamp lit up correctly as it should when the 50 amp pedestal is
wired properly with 240 VAC for Leg #1 and Leg #2.
He plans to install a momentary switch onto the box which will test the Red
"test" lamp making sure that it had not burnt out. Highly unlikely with a
neon lamp unless the lamp got busted and the gas leaked out.

Did I miss something? Am I supposed to modify my power pedestal tester?

PS- It has been working great, it seems, unless I am missing something?

Richard,

I plan on using a single pole double throw switch. One leg of your tester (line 1) will connect directly to one side of the neon bulb. The other leg of the tester (line 2) will be connected to the normally closed terminal of the spdt switch. The common switch terminal will connect to the other side of the neon bulb. The normally open switch terminal will connect to the tester common wire. So, without touching the momentary contact spdt switch, plugging in to good 50 amp with 240 volts will light up the neon bulb. Yes, as you explained earlier, the bulb is 120 volt but works okay at 240 without frying. In this case the spdt switch will be seeing 240 volts. Just not many amps. If the neon bulb doesn't light due to fake 50 pedestal, the spdt switch can be pressed to disconnect line 2 and connect common to light the bulb with 120 volts. This confirms bulb is okay and verifies fake 50. But as you say the neon is highly reliable but try to convince some shade tree electrician.

TPMS (257529)

Post by Yahoo_Upload » 03 Jan 2019 09:06

A number of years ago I took the advice from some of the members of this group on selecting a TPMS for my coach and selected Tire-SafeGuard TPMS. One of the main reasons this unit was recommended was because each sensors battery can be replaced and not the entire sensor. I must have it now around 5 years or so but I have had difficulty with some of the individual sensors alarm going off. I changed batteries and still it goes off. I replace the battery again and that sensor may be okay but then the alarm for another may sound. Here is another comment on this TPMS. Since I have owned this system, the alarm has never gone off due to low tire pressure or heat. In other words, I have never had to add air to the tires. That may be accurate but I want to make sure I am not overthinking this.If I wanted to purchase a new TPMS for my coach, what are your recommendations?Tony2003 Holiday Rambler?Vacationer - Gas

Tony, ?Sorry for your troubles with the Tire SafeGuard. If you plan to dispose of it I would like to take it off your hands if the tire sensors are CAP sensors. I don’t like using flow-through sensors. ?I would try either the TST or Pressure Pro although Pressure Pro does not have replaceable batteries in their sensors. ?Richard S.02 Windsor PBTFlagler Beach FL ?From: Monacoers@yahoogroups.com [mailto:Monacoers@yahoogroups.com] Sent: Thursday, January 3, 2019 6:06 PMTo: yahoogroupsSubject: [Monacoers] TPMS? Tony M,I just purchased and installed the TST flow through TPMS and it was easy to do.? While I havent had it long or even been on a trip w it yet (Christmas present), I think I will like it.? If youre on the Monaco FB page, there's a code for a discount you can use.? Do a search in the chat for it.? I chose TST after reading numerous happy reviews on FB.Steven P2006 Diplomat 40dstSent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone-------- Original message --------From: "Tony M nyrngrz@...
