Door step motor (265113)

Post by Yahoo_Upload » 01 Dec 2019 09:24

The elecric door step has failed on my 01 HR Imperial. ?I first checked the two fuses and they are ok. ?I crawled under the step and I heard clicking as the front door was opened are closed and the step light also came on. ?So then I measured for voltage at the connector feeding the motor and I get 13 V DC as the front door is opened or closed. ?I did read some resistance in the windings so it isn't an open circuit. So I assume the motor is frozen as I never hear dany actual motor noise. Are the motors fairly generic? ?I guess I will remove the motor to determine what I need. ?Is removal an easy task since the steps are retracted and access isn't very good?Murray Walker01 HR Imperial

Have you thought about opening the motor up after you get it out and check the brushes?Sent from Yahoo Mail for iPad?Ken On Sunday, December 1, 2019, 5:54 PM, DUANE LINDSEY duanelin@... [Monacoers] wrote: ?

You can remove the pin or bolt that connects the arm to the step, then pull the step out, gaining access to the motor. ?Enjoy Life Now, It Does Have An Expiration Date! ?

Murray,In the meantime, before you replace a motor, you can try this.?But your measurements, you appear to be getting power to the motor and the clicking is good as that is the step motor relay, so you can try stomping down on the step when the door is open and the motor energized trying to move the step. Sometimes this will jog a bad motor into working for awhile.?If the above works and you're really adventurous or you can't get a new motor right away, you can also readjust the step gears so the quadrant gear doesn't go quite as far toward it's last tooth when opening or closing the step. What this does is put the stopped and damaged motor in a better position to start out due to some dead areas on the motor armature.?Good luck.Jamie'03 HR Scepter 40 PDT'17 Ford Fusion Hybrid TOADThe elecric door step has failed on my 01 HR Imperial.? I first checked the two fuses and they are ok.? I crawled under the step and I heard clicking as the front door was opened are closed and the step light also came on.? So then I measured for voltage at the connector feeding the motor and I get 13 V DC as the front door is opened or closed.? I did read some resistance in the windings so it isn't an open circuit. So I assume the motor is frozen as I never hear dany actual motor noise. Are the motors fairly generic?? I guess I will remove the motor to determine what I need.? Is removal an easy task since the steps are retracted and access isn't very good?Murray Walker01 HR Imperial On Sun, Dec 1, 2019, 6:25 PM Murray Walker merkur89xr4tiride@... [Monacoers] wrote:

MurrayI have a 2013 Knight, and had issues with mine, it mine was also a Ford electric window motor, was cheap to buy, and easy to install. Just don’t go to a parts store and tell them you are looking for a electric door step motor for a Monaco motorhome, they will tell you they don’t have one, get your info first.?Archie Jacobs2013 KnightSent from my iPhone On Dec 1, 2019, at 4:54 PM, DUANE LINDSEY duanelin@... Hi MurryI had to do lot of work on my Kwikee steps. Here is a link that might help, with manuals if you have the same step. The manuals have procedures to test the step controller.https://safaritoonces.org/project-tree-branches/repairs/repairs-mechanical/kwikee-steps-2/Robert and Bev Lewis2000 Safari Continental, since 20173126B Cat, 330hpMD3060 Allisonhttps://safaritoonces.org
