Monacoers Family of Coaches

The rubber seal/gasket/weather stripping (what ever it's called, on the entry door, needs replacing on my 1997 Beaver Marquis. Does anyone have information on this item? Where can I get a replacement? Who Is the door manufacturer, are they still in business?

purchased some weatherstripping products from them.? They purchased a boat load

Jim; I was able to get Mine ( "J" door seal ) from Dan at Monaco. Not TOO expensive and easier than trying to find it from a manufacturer. You will also need some good contact cement to use on any mitered corners. Mine were mitered with just a smidgin of the seal left uncut at the corner.

I was also able to get the storage bay seals but after I received them I used the E6000 contact cement and was able to reglue the bulb to the seals.

Was it an exact replacement for what was on there originally? You have an '02 Windsor and I have a '97 Beaver. Your coach has a screen door and mine does not. They are probably two entirely different animals. I planned to call them tomorrow, Monday. I talked to Beaver Coach Sales, in Bend OR, a couple days ago. They told me the entry door came from a subcontractor and the seal was part of the door. They had no info on it. Hope Monaco has better archives.

If this is a bulb seal, then most of the RV dealers have various sizes in
bulk rolls. In addition, McMaster Carr has various sizes by the foot. You
can look up the bulb seals in the online McMaster Carr. You can also google
Bulb Seals and find other vendors. You will need to find the dimensions,
but if you have a good seal intact, you can usually match it up?many times
the entire door seal was the same size.
Rich is pretty good at fixing things, so I don?t knock what he has done.
I have a ?four sided? bulb seal around my entry door. The dealer, under
warranty, replaced the top seal where the scissor arm had abraded it. It is
ALL the same seal and he had it in bulk on a reel. It comes with double
stick tape.
The lower seal started to pull loose. Monaco on some of the 09?s mounted
the seal to the door and on others mounted it to the door (coach)
frame?don?t ask why?.same seal?different way of doing it. Monaco was NOT
much help to the dealer who replaced the seal?.he said that Monaco?s part
numbers were wrong, sometimes, as the factory would substitute, so they kept
an inventory of the commonly used bulb seals.
I peeled off my lower seal as dirt had gotten into the double stick area. I
used WD-40 to loosen the tape residue and cleaned the door and the bulb seal
(rubber). Then I used acetone to get rid of the WD-40. This also
?activates? the rubber and the paint?do it lightly, don?t keep rubbing. You
get a much better bond?.often detail shops that put on pin striping will do
the same thing to make sure the tape sticks to the paint. In you case, you
need to use the acetone on BOTH surfaces.
I have a roll of Scotch Clear Mounting Tape (3M). It is their part number
4010-Long and has the VHB logo on the tape. I bought it at one of the
Office Supply Boxes (Office Depot, Office Max or Staples) and it was around
$25?but WELL WORTH IT. I keep it refrigerated and it is still fresh. This
is the THINNEST double stick tape that you can find and it is STRONG. It is
designed for mounting Office Name Plates on glass doors and the like. They
warn you that if you try to remove it, that the surface might have to be
refinished. It is 1? wide. I have mounted stuff with it and it is great.
Therefore, I took a length of the tape equal to the seal and had to ?slit
it? down to ?? wide, which was the original width of the bulb seal double
stick. I decided to attach the tape to the rubber and got it lined up and
cut the mitered edges.
I then put the seal (which was in great shape?.just not attached) into one
corner and then attached the other corner and worked my way towards the
middle from both ends.
The seal has been in place for almost 9 months and shows NO signs of pulling
up. I had used the same tape to re-attach the original upper seal and the
tech said that my tape was stronger than the original.
I have used this for mounting other items where you had two relatively flat
surfaces. It is superior to the 3M ?RED? auto decal double stick tape that
is used on the plastic vent visors. On them, you need a thicker tape to
take up the imperfections of the assembly. Since this is designed for flat
surfaces, it works great for seals as there is very little of the tape to
allow the seal to peel up.

Entry doors were made for Monaco in the 90's by PTL Engineering in Rochester Hills, MI. The company is still in business but have moved to Lapeer, MI. It is possible that they made the doors for Beaver at that time. See if Beaver can give you the name of the supplier of the door. That was five years before Monaco bought Beaver so I seriously doubt that Monaco would have that Beaver information.

Bill D,

PTL did make entry doors for Beaver but not for the Marquis model. My Marquis has round corners at the top and square on the bottom. PTL never made a door with round corners. Beaver no longer has a web site and Monaco has no info.
